QUESTION FOR REFLECTION
• Q 2: Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?

Scripture Union Daily Guide 4 March 2023 MESSAGE

Have you been desperately ill before? This was possibly the condition of the psalmist. Check from vs.1-3 why he thinks that the Lord would definitely deliver him from this illness? What can we learn about God in these verses?

Read vs.4-10 and find out why the psalmist desperately desired that the Lord would heal him? Many times, in situations like this, the Lord would heal our illnesses for His own name’s sake and for the sake of the Gospel. Check Isaiah 53:5 and be reminded when you are ill of the real source of healing.

Vs.11-12 refer to the Messiah Christ Jesus. On the cross His enemies thought they had finally succeeded. But His subsequent resurrection on the third day shut the mouth of His adversaries. The Lord God upheld Jesus and set Him in His presence forever. Is your life embedded in Christ Jesus?
The joy of the psalmist makes him shout God’s praise in v.13. May our lives be full of testimonies of the Lord’s goodness that our lips may declare His everlasting love.

PRACTICE/WORD APPLICATION
Quick check: compare v.9 with John 13:18

• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?

HYMN – Shall we walk along life’s journey

1. Shall we walk along life’s journey,
Thro’ the shadows of the night,
On an arm of flesh relying,
Trusting only human might?
No, the promised help of Jesus
Shall sustain us day by day;
In the battle’s wild commotion,
Thro’ the fierceness of the fray.

2. Shall we see the loved and cherished
Passing from us by the way?
And the aching hearts so weary,
Find no solace day by day?
Yet, the promised help of Jesus
Shall sustain us even then;
Thro’ His grace, which crowned them victors,
We shall meet them all again.

3. Shall we walk ’mid gathering shadows,
When life’s evening draweth near?
Shall the darkness be unbroken,
Will no light for us appear?
Then the promised help of Jesus
As a light shall guide us o’er
To the pure celestial city,
Over on the other shore.
