Streams of Joy Daily Devotional 30 August 2021 – Keep to Instructions

Streams of Joy Daily Devotional 30 August 2021
Streams of Joy Daily Devotional 30 August 2021 By Pastor Jerry Eze, Monday Message

TOPIC: Keep to Instructions

FOCUS: “And let it be, when these signs are come unto thee, that thou do as occasion serve thee; for God is with thee.” (1 Samuel 10: 7)

It is important to observe that Saul did not become the first king of Israel by virtue of anything that he achieved or earned by himself. He only became king because God chose him. He was in search of his father’s asses when the good news of kingship was unveiled to him. He was not one of those kings who fought for the throne; he did not get into kingship by his own arm; God brought it to him by favour and mercy.

Saul eventually disobeyed God and lost the throne. He was qualified by grace, but he disqualified himself through disobedience. He stepped into the door of royalty that was opened by favour, but his disobedience to God caused the same doors to be shut against him and his descendants forever. Disobedience to God caused Saul to lose a throne he gained by grace; disobedience cost him the crown he got without efforts.

Friend, the new season and new levels that may have come your way on the platform of grace and favour can be lost on the platform of disobedience to God. The same doors and gates that were opened to you by the favour of God can be shut against you through your disobedience to God. The opportunities for greatness that came by grace can be lost for good if you continue to walk the path of disobedience to God.

Saul disobeyed God because he feared the people (see 1 Samuel 15 vs. 24). The people made him disobey God. The desire to please the people made him disobey God. Don’t be caught in the web of disobedience to God on account of your attachment to people; don’t let the relationships you share with people expose you to a life of disobedience to God; don’t let mere mortals make you miss your way in your walk with God.

God is the One to who has capacity to open every door and gates you desire to be opened; He alone can enthrone and crown you against all odds; and that makes Him more important than any man you seek to please.

Isaiah 1: 19 says: “If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:”

DECLARATION: I will not disobey God; I walk in obedience, in Jesus’ name!
