Scripture: “Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run that ye may obtain” 1 COR. 9:24

Message: Yesterday, we started looking at what it takes to run to obtain. The first thing is the need of self-denial. This implies that God demands the best from us and secondly, He has equipped us to be able to do our best, but the flesh has a way of looking for short-cuts, but like I always say, avoid short cut so that you will not cut your life short. Short-cut will always cut short!

The second thing is to identify your purpose. If you must be all that God has ordained for you to be, you must find purpose and pursue it. Our God, like you have heard me say over and over again, is a God of plan, purpose, design and objectivity. You must discover your purpose and go for it. Let your daily actions take you closer to the fulfillment of your purpose.

The third thing is to be focused. You cannot move forward with your eyes glued to the rear mirror. Paul said he is not shadow boxing; rather, he is fighting to win. Beloved, the time is very short, you cannot afford anymore waste of time. Get to work and be focused.

Still on focus, you must stand firm on the Word of God. Whatever God has promised you, hold on to it, don’t turn to the left or to the right. Don’t give up on God’s promises; realize that you are tougher than anything the devil is throwing at you by the reason of the Word of God. Stand boldly on the Word and if anyone is to give up, it is the devil.

In spite of the devil’s tricks to distract you, remember the words of Paul in 2 Corinthians 4:18 (TLB) “So we do not look at what we can see right now, the troubles all around us, but we look forward to the joys in heaven which we have not yet seen. The troubles will soon be over, but the joys to come will last forever.”
