Unknown gunmen have killed 15 herdsmen in fresh attacks in Bawon-Daji village in Zamfara state. The gunmen reportedly stormed the village on Wednesday and began shooting mercilessly at the herdsmen, killing 12 of them.
The gunmen who came into the village riding on motorcycles, returned later in the evening and attacked the residents during the funeral of the victims of the first attack. Three other herdsmen were killed.
Confirming the attacks, the spokesperson of the state police command, Muhammad Shehu, said some police officers have been drafted to the village and its environ to maintain law and order.
