Xenophobia: Shoprite suspends operation in Ikeja

Xenophobia: Some angry Nigerian protesters stormed Shoprite outlets in Ikeja, Lekki and Surulere area of Lagos state earlier today to express their displeasure over the xenophobic attacks targeted at Nigerians in South Africa.

While the protest in Ikeja was peaceful, the protest in Surulere and Lekki were almost violent but stopped by the Police.

In Lekki, tyres were set on fire by some angry youths who sang solidarity songs as they made their way into the shopping outlet. They were however stopped from gaining entrace into the facility by some Nigerian policemen.
