FIRE SCRIPTURE
Daniel 10:7-13
7. I, Daniel, was the only one who saw the vision. The men with me didn’t see the vision, but they were still afraid. They were so afraid that they ran away and hid. 8 So I was left alone. I was watching this vision, and it made me afraid. I lost my strength. My face turned white like a dead person’s face, and I was helpless. 9 Then I heard the man in the vision talking. As I listened to his voice, I fell into a deep sleep, with my face on the ground.
10 Then a hand touched me. When that happened, I got on my hands and knees. I was so afraid that I was shaking. 11 The man in the vision said to me, “Daniel, God loves you very much. Think very carefully about the words I will speak to you. Stand up; I have been sent to you.” And when he said this, I stood up. I was still shaking because I was afraid.
12 Then the man in the vision started talking again. He said, “Daniel, do not be afraid. From the very first day you decided to get wisdom and to be humble in front of God, he has been listening to your prayers. I came to you because you have been praying. 13 But the prince of Persia has been fighting against me for 21 days. Then Michael, one of the most important princes, came to help me because I was stuck there with the king of Persia.
MESSAGE: Today, we are looking at hindrances to answered prayers.
While Daniel was fasting and praying, an intense battle was raging in the spiritual realm. The prince of the kingdom of Persia temporarily withstood Daniel from receiving God’s message from the angel. Because of this conflict, he had to wait twenty-one days for the revelation. This Persian prince was not a human ruler, but a demon from satan’s kingdom. He was defeated only when Michael, Israel’s prince, came to help the angel.
Dearly Beloved, evil forces in the spiritual realm can hinder answers to prayers like the one we read in today’s Fire scripture. Paul says in the book of Ephesians 6:12, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”
The devil is so powerful that he can deceive, cause problems and sicknesses, and block prayers from getting answers – like the case of Daniel who kept at it for twenty-one days (2 Corinthians 4:4; Job 2:7). The devil can also hinder the righteous. Zechariah 3:1 says, “And he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him.”
Dear reader, there are many things we do that also help the devil to hinder our prayers. At times, we exercise doubt, unbelief and utter negative words after hot prayer sessions. We easily give up when it seems like the answer is not coming the way we expect it. But Daniel did not give up and God sent reinforcement to help him.
What happened here to Daniel is just a glimpse of the unseen battles going on in the spiritual realm. These conflicts affect the course of nations and individual lives, but they do not have ultimate control over people’s choices. God’s people can be victorious over evil spiritual forces by applying God’s Word and through prayer.
PRAYER POINTS:
MORNING
1. Every battle in the heavenlies involving me shall be won by my angel of blessings, in the Name of Jesus.
2. Let God arise and let the power behind my battles be wasted, in the Name of Jesus.
3. Any agent of darkness delaying the manifestation of my miracles, die, in the Name of Jesus.
EVENING
4. O God, give me prophetic dreams tonight, in the Name of Jesus.
5. Any power on assignment to cage my life, fall down and die, in the Name of Jesus.
6. Powers in my father’s house waiting for me to fail, shall wait forever, in the Name of Jesus.
7. My Father, visit me in my prayer closet and shine Your light upon my situation, in the Name of Jesus.
