Scripture Union Daily Guide 18th January 2023 MESSAGE

At first, Moses had the idea that he was going to liberate the children of Israel, but he failed miserably (2:11-15). Therefore, he decided that he did not have what the task required (vs.10, 13). God was patient with him and gave him one assurance after another (vs.2-4, 6-7, 11-12). Even then, Moses was not convinced! Are you discouraged because you have failed in something? We have all heard the saying, “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try, and try again.”

Actually, that is not always a wise idea. It is possible that this is not what God wants for you and you should try something different. The first thing to do is to be sure of what God really wants for you, and then to go for it. In this case, God made clear what He wanted Moses to do, and there was no reason for him to hesitate.

Take note of vs.2,17. God did not manufacture a special staff for Moses. It was the ordinary shepherd’s staff in his hand that God used in an extraordinary manner. In the same way, God can use what is already in our hands!

PRAYER FOCUS
TIRED AND DISCOURAGED?

Come to me, all who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. – Matthew 11:28

THANK GOD FOR:
► The encouragement we have in God’s word and the strength we receive as we encourage one another in the faith.
► Always hearing us and delivering us, especially when we have reached our human limits.

PRAY FOR:
► Brethren who may be broken hearted and crushed in the spirit due to what they are undergoing.
· Believers to support them as much as possible, not only in prayer, but to physically visit them.
► Our SU brethren at the grassroots and the Northern part of the country, that God will perfect all that concern them.

PRAY AGAINST:
► Every spirit of feeling spent, exhausted and tired especially as we see the day appearing.
► Every plan of the devil to make us stumble, loose hope, and be discouraged from continuing till the end.
