Scripture Union Daily Guide 22nd June 2023 MESSAGE:
Continuing yesterday’s discussion, Paul warns Gentile believers of the twin dangers of ignorance and pride (v.25). (Note “The fullness of the Gentiles” refers to the fulfilment of God’s purpose, which is the calling out from among the Gentiles a people for Christ’s name, the Church, His body.
This is what Paul calls “mystery”.) God now accepts non-Jews into His kingdom, while many Israelites are still outside. See what hinders Israel from entering God’s plan: hardening of heart (v.25), godlessness (v.26), sin (27), and enmity (v.28). However, just like them, all men are guilty of disobedience and are saved only by God’s mercy (vs.30-32).
Unlike earthly fathers who can change their mind at any time and withdraw presents or gifts, we can rest in the confidence that our heavenly father does not withdraw His gifts from us (v.29). It is possible to think that the Jews fell away because God had withdrawn His call upon them. No, He remains committed to His covenant with them.
We all need Jesus, the deliverer (v.26). He still turns godlessness and sin away, and transforms individuals, families, communities, and nations who turn to Him for salvation. God’s ways are unsearchable and incomprehensible! We may want to respond in gratitude for accepting us and for His ultimate plan for the Jewish nation (vs.33-36).

CLOSING PRAYER
Lord, thank you for including me in your grand scheme. Grant me the grace to remember the Jewish nation in prayers.

THANK GOD FOR:
► The train the trainer’s step-down programme for Pilgrims, Children, Missions and Schools.
► The wisdom given the Union to ensure the continuity of training at the grassroots level.
PRAY FOR:
► God to establish His work in SU.
► The presence and anointing of God in the entire programme.
► Participants to take seriously the lessons to be taught and to apply them.
PRAY AGAINST:
► Anything that will not glorify the name of our God in the programme.
► Making light of the training thereby not applying the lessons to be taught.
