bull; Q 3: Is there any command for me to obey?
• Q 4: Is there any promise for me to believe or hope for?

Scripture Union Daily Guide 5th October 2023 Outline:

Judah was overwhelmed by threat of invasion from Aram and Israel, but the Lord intervened in their situation. Notice God’s promise to Judah (vs.7-9). There are times when we feel overwhelmed by our situations also and wonder if God is there for us. We can derive strength from many promises of victory that God has given us in the Bible.
What do you think of Ahaz’s refusal to ask God for a sign (v.12)? Ahaz was possibly afraid but God still gave him a sign (vs.10-14). The sign carried a double meaning, one for the immediate, and one for the future. The message also pointed to God’s future judgment against the land for not heeding His commandments.
Ahaz was tempted to put his trust in Assyria, rather than in God, so God warned him against depending on Assyria. He gave him warning of the devastation that Assyria will bring on Judah in future (vs.17-25). We need to avoid the temptation to put our trust in ourselves, or some other persons (See Jeremiah 17:5-6). Only God is worthy of our trust (Jeremiah 17:7-8).

Practice/Word Application
And So: Our God is Immanuel! So, be assured that you are never alone (Matthew 28:20; Hebrews 13:5).
